This raffle is proudly being hosted through the Clarence Harvest Celebration Committee, who have generously supported our efforts to raise funds for Melaney Hamilton and her family. We are a group of Melaney’s friends and colleagues who have come together to support Melaney, Brendan and their beautiful daughter, Emilia during this difficult time.Melaney is a much-loved teacher at Gulmarrad Public School and a familiar face to so many in the Clarence Valley. She grew up locally in Iluka and went to school in the area herself. Melaney has always had a way of making a difference in the lives of children, families and those lucky enough to know her. Her kindness, warmth and quiet strength mean so much to so many.In September 2024, just after turning 30, Melaney received the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) — a diagnosis no young person or family should ever have to face. Despite the challenges of this cruel disease, Melaney has continued to face each day with incredible courage and strength. In the midst of her MND journey, she and her partner, Brendan, welcomed their beautiful miracle daughter, Emmi, in 2025. She is the light of their lives and a beautiful reminder that hope can still be found in the most difficult of times.As Melaney’s MND progresses, everyday life is becoming increasingly challenging. Her family home is no longer suited to her changing mobility needs, and their priority is to create an accessible extension to their home, including a bedroom for Emmi. Funds are also being raised towards an accessible vehicle, allowing Melaney to travel safely and comfortably to medical appointments, enjoy family outings and continue making precious memories with Brendan and Emmi.Like so many young families, Melaney and Brendan never imagined they would find themselves facing circumstances like these. While beginning her journey into motherhood, Melaney is now facing the devastating reality of a life-changing illness. The loss of income, combined with the increasing costs associated with her care and changing needs, has placed additional financial pressure on their young family. Melaney has always been the person who gives to others. As a teacher, she has dedicated herself to supporting and nurturing children, and she has always given her time, energy and heart to her family, friends and community. She would never be the person to ask for help herself. Now, it’s our turn to give something back.By purchasing a raffle ticket, you are helping to make a genuine and lasting difference.
