About this raffle

Home is more than a place, it’s the people who show up for us. While Elvi and her family call Tasmania’s East Coast home, their connections stretch far beyond it, with friends, family and community ties across the south, north and north-west of the state. This raffle is a way for us all to come together and support them during a difficult time. This raffle is being conducted on behalf of the Scamander Golf Club, in the spirit of shared values of community and connection. Funds raised will be donated to Elvi’s family, through her parents Jess and Justin, to support them during their relocation to Hobart for her ongoing weekly chemotherapy treatment.Since her diagnosis with an optic nerve glioma in December 2025, Elvi has faced the loss of vision in one eye and an extended course of weekly chemotherapy. Nine months into treatment, she still has a further nine months ahead, a continuing commitment that shapes everyday life for the whole family.Weekly trips from Beaumaris to Hobart became part of the family’s routine until August, when they relocated south to be closer to Elvi’s care team. Moving has brought new expenses and adjustments for everyone, as they work to maintain family life while away from familiar surroundings and their support network at home.Justin has been a member of the golf club, and the family has contributed to our community in many ways over many years. Now there is an opportunity to return that kindness. The funds raised will help ease some of the financial pressures the family is facing, giving them more room to focus on Elvi’s care and time together. Our community has a long tradition of showing up for one another, through meals, fundraisers and the everyday gestures that remind people they are cared for. Every ticket purchased and every share of this raffle carries that care a little further.Thank you to the businesses and community members who have generously donated prizes, and to everyone buying tickets, sharing this raffle or sending their love and support. Each act of kindness helps Elvi and her family feel the care of the community around them. From the East Coast to every corner of Tasmania they are connected to, let’s send them a little love from home.
