A Diamond for Their Golden Years 💎Win a beautiful diamond ring professionally valued at $15,600 while helping us care for Cranky’s ageing residents.At Cranky’s Farm Animal Rescue Mission, we believe rescue comes with a promise — not just to save an animal, but to be there for them for the rest of their life.And right now, quite a few of those lives are well and truly into their golden years.Our sanctuary is home to an extraordinary group of senior animals. We currently have six cattle aged 15 years or older — two are 15 and four are 17. We also have Lopez, our 29-year-old horse; Lorenzo, our 35-year-old donkey; and some of our beautiful old goats are now around 15 years old.Reaching these ages is something we are incredibly grateful for. But with the privilege of watching them grow old comes the responsibility of adapting their care as their needs change.One of those beautiful oldies is Bubba, our 17-year-old dairy steer.Recently, we discovered that Bubba's teeth have become so worn that he can no longer efficiently chew ordinary hay.That means simply putting out a round bale with the rest of the herd is no longer enough to keep him healthy.To help Bubba maintain his weight and body condition, we now need to provide him with pellet mash, chaff and premium soft hay that he can more easily chew and digest.We estimate that feeding Bubba alone will now cost us around $200 every week — more than $10,000 a year.But Bubba is just one of our golden oldies.As Lorenzo, Lopez, our senior goats, cattle and other residents continue to age, their needs inevitably change too. That can mean specialised and supplementary feeds, medications, supplements, more frequent veterinary and dental care, hoof care, mobility support, protection from the weather and changes to the way we manage their everyday lives.And sometimes it simply means watching them a little more closely and adapting what we do to make sure they're still comfortable, happy and enjoying life.For us, that's what sanctuary means.It means celebrating a cow reaching 17, a goat reaching 15, a horse reaching 29 or a donkey reaching 35 — while accepting the responsibility that comes with helping them get there.We promised them a home for life, and "for life" includes the expensive, complicated and sometimes challenging senior years.That's why we're holding A Diamond for Their Golden Years.💎 The PrizeOne very lucky supporter will win a beautiful diamond ring professionally valued at $15,600.
